siena

On our way to florence we decided to make a small stop in siena. After a train, bus then another bus that took us around in circles for awhile we ended up in siena.
The city is small and really precious. Very confusing streets that wind around and seem to lead nowhere though. We stayed for awhile in Plazza del Campo which was great to people watch. We watched old italian women walking together with linked arms and small children running around- it was adorable. Also a lot of older people were taking care of their grandchildren. We sat and watched this old man probably in his 70's sharing lunch with this cute little girl and they walked around holding hands. We visited the famous Siena Duomo, which was incredible and stripped. Probably one of my favorite cathedrals I've been in- and I've been to quite a lot over the last couple of months. We had a nice lunch and then was back on the train to florence!
Great day trip!
